Experience the most important festival for our community! An annual occasion for the faithful and visitors from all over Sardinia and beyond, has been held 661 times, the Festa di S. Antioco Martire is a religious event that combines faith, culture, tradition, folklore and entertainment. During the year, there are three moments of devotion dedicated to St Antioco: the so-called “Festa Manna” (the Great Feast) which is celebrated fifteen days after Easter, the summer edition, on 1 August, and on 13 November, the anniversary of the saint’s death.
The “Festa Manna” takes place over three days, the most important of which is undoubtedly the Monday, when a solemn procession is formed of floats, knights and folk groups in traditional dress from all over Sardinia. An atmosphere of past times with a strong sense of identity envelops and fascinates visitors. The streets of the town are richly decorated and covered with petals awaiting the procession of the effigy and the relic, in a galaxy of colours and aromas.
Culture and entertainment
For those who love to relax and enjoy music, art and tastings, a rich programme of events is offered every year, including the acrobatic Pariglia horse races, artistic performances, exhibitions and the unmissable fireworks display that closes the celebrations in honour of the Saint. The food and wine fair accompanies every day of the celebrations, featuring Sardinian folk groups who have come to the island with their typical products to honour Antioco and bring the streets of the centre to life with traditional songs and dances.
