Con circa <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">1.500 tombe<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> scavate nel banco roccioso e un&#8217;estensione di <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">oltre 10 ettari<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">, \u00e8 uno dei <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">complessi funerari fenicio-punici pi\u00f9 grandi e meglio conservati al mondo,<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0e aspetta solo di essere esplorato.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Il tuo ingresso nell&#8217;aldil\u00e0 antico comincia dal <strong><em>dromos<\/em><\/strong>: un corridoio a scalini che scende obliquamente nel sottosuolo fino a raggiungere la soglia della camera funeraria, a due o tre metri di profondit\u00e0. Oltrepassarla significa entrare in uno <strong>spazio sospeso tra la terra dei vivi e il mondo dei morti<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Le <strong>stanze funerarie molto semplici<\/strong>, quadrangolari e spesso dotate di tramezzo divisorio, possiedono sulle pareti delle <strong>nicchie o false-finestre disegnate, <\/strong>simbolo del passaggio ultraterreno. <span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In un caso anche le pareti della tomba sono totalmente ricoperte dall\u2019<strong>ocra rossa<\/strong>, con disegni di false finestre e<strong> una falsa porta<\/strong>, simbolo del contatto tra due mondi e del<strong> passaggio dell\u2019anima verso l\u2019aldil\u00e0<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">La<strong> salma<\/strong> veniva lavata, profumata, vestita con una lunga tunica e inserita all\u2019interno di un <strong>sarcofago ligneo<\/strong>, l\u2019individuo era accompagnato da <strong>preziosi corredi funerari<\/strong> composti da brocche, <strong>anfore colme di vino, olio e acqua<\/strong>, tazze, <strong>piatti<\/strong> e<strong> lucerne<\/strong>, ma anche da preziosi<strong> gioielli<\/strong> e<strong> amuleti<\/strong>. Nella stessa camera riposavano <strong>famiglie intere<\/strong>, adagiati all\u2019interno dei sepolcri nel rispetto di precisi codici rituali e suggestivi apprestamenti cerimoniali.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>La necropoli riserva anche <strong>sorprese straordinarie<\/strong>: gli scavi hanno portato alla luce <span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">sculture uniche,<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">due <strong>pilastri scolpiti e dipinti<\/strong> raffigurano un <strong>personaggio maschile<\/strong>, forse una divinit\u00e0, dai tratti e l\u2019abbigliamento fortemente legati all\u2019<strong>immaginario egizio<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nel corso dei secoli il sito \u00e8 stato riutilizzato in<strong> epoca romana<\/strong> e poi dai <strong>primi
