Carignano in Festa

Events that tell the soul of Sant'Antioco

In recent years, the island of Sant'Antioco has become a reference point for wine and Mediterranean culture enthusiasts thanks to a rich calendar of events dedicated to wine and, in particular, to Carignano del Sulcis. An ancient, resilient and profoundly identity-driven grape variety, which through local events has been able to tell its story to an ever-widening public, contributing to the promotion of the entire island territory.

A City of Wine since 2002

2002 was a symbolic year for Sant'Antioco: entry into theNational Association of Wine Cities marked the beginning of a virtuous path of valorising local production. In that same year, the island hosted for the first time Goblets of Starsone of the most popular events of the Italian summer, celebrating wine on the magical night of San Lorenzo.

Calici di Stelle: the evening symbol of island identity

Among all the events, Goblets of Stars remains the most representative for historicity, attendance and impact on the territory. The edition 2025 will be held on 10 AugustAs per tradition, it promises once again to be an unforgettable evening: thousands of people including wine enthusiasts, tourists and islanders will gather to taste local wines, meet local producers and enjoy a sensory experience that goes beyond mere tasting. An opportunity to tell the story of Carignano del Sulcis through direct contact with those who produce, protect and promote it.

Le Notti delVino: a new format for a new experience

New in 2025, Wine Nights is the new format of the Wine Cities Association designed to enhance the territories through evening tastings, music and culture. The 16 Augustin the beautiful setting of the beach of Maladroxia, the first edition on the island. A magical evening by the sea, enhanced by the presence of local producersby live music and an atmosphere that celebrates the value of meeting and sharing.

Carignano Wine Festival: the heart of summer

The other key event of summer 2025 is the Carignano Wine Festivalscheduled 23 August on the Sant'Antioco seafront. Born in 2022, it has quickly become a central event for the promotion of the island's symbolic grape variety. Guided tastings, workshops and meetings with producers make the festival a moment of great cultural and touristic value.

This year the festival will go a step further: will land in Cagliari in autumn with a special edition involving the restaurants in the historic centre in a wine and food contest. A challenge between creativity and tradition that will bring Carignano del Sulcis to the centre of the regional food and wine scene.

A unique heritage

What makes Carignano di Sant'Antioco so special is also its extraordinary originmuch of the production comes from historical bush-trained, non-irrigated, free-range vineswhich survived phylloxera thanks to the island's sandy soils. An agricultural heritage of inestimable value that today represents not only an oenological rarity, but also a model of sustainability and preservation of biodiversity.

Events uniting vio, culture and the future

These events are not mere festivals, but strategic tools to tell the story of a strong and cohesive territorial identity. Carignano del Sulcis, through the universal language of wine, is the spokesman of an island that believes in its roots and the value of community. Every goblet poured is an invitation to discovery, every event is a declaration of love for the territory.
