Su Portixeddu and Portixeddu Accuau

White rocks and crystal clear sea

The eastern coast of Sant'Antioco offers many wonders nestled between Mediterranean maquis and fantastic white limestone rocks, unique places to explore one by one. Just a short distance from the town of Sant'Antioco you will find Su Portixeddu, a beautiful sandy cove interspersed with white pebbles, with a shallow seabed ideal for strolls in the cool, crystal-clear water. It is a picturesque place with a peculiarity: on its left, looking towards the sea and Capo Teulada, a staircase makes its way through the rocks to a private house overlooking the sea. Continuing along the road in the direction of Maladroxia you will arrive at the cove of Su Portixeddu Accuau, literally the Hidden Harbour, a marvel hidden from the eyes of those who do not know the coast of Sant'Antioco: from the road there is a short path on foot, which we recommend you tackle with suitable shoes. More or less halfway along, you will not believe your eyes: you will literally be enraptured by the splendid shades of green and deep blue of this sea, which laps against the white pebbles that cover the beach. You will love its crystal-clear sea, particularly beautiful in the mornings, when you can enjoy it in peace while swimming in the cool regenerating waters. A characteristic feature is the presence a few metres from the beach of two submerged basins, to be discovered with a snorkelling mask, which testify to a past when limestone rocks were quarried for lime production and transported by sea.
